About Me
Stefanie Funke, LMFT in West Los Angeles
Hello!, I’m Stefanie Funke
Licensed marriage and family therapist
I am Stefanie Funke, a marriage and family therapist licensed by the State of California. I have extensive training in gestalt therapy and have been certified as a gestalt therapist by the Pacific Gestalt Institute. I work to provide a safe, comfortable, and healing space in which to explore feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and experiences. I help individuals (adults and adolescents), couples, and families explore challenges, patterns, preferences, successes, and strengths. With experience in dealing with anger, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, eating issues, disability, and other struggles, I hope to help you achieve understanding of the life you have and work towards gaining the life you want.
My Approach & Values
I am a certified gestalt therapist. Gestalt therapy is an approach that promotes self-awareness—of what you are doing, how you are doing it, and how you can change yourself, and at the same time, to learn to accept and value yourself. The emphasis is on what is being done, thought, and felt in the moment, rather than on what was, might be, could be, or should be. Increased awareness leads to acceptance (self and otherwise) and actions more reflective of one’s values and desires.
I Work With Individuals, Couples, Families, & Groups
Individual
Feeling sad, stressed, confused, generally unhappy with life? I work with teens and adults to address problematic feelings, with the idea of helping people gain the life they want.
Couples
Communication problems are a common complaint with couples. I help couples learn to communicate with each other more effectively, leading to more satisfying relationships.
Families
Family dynamics can be complex and confusing. I work with families to help improve communication and strengthen connections.
Consultation
I provide gestalt-therapy-based supervision and consultation to pre-licensed and licensed therapists.
